DANIEL FRIEDLAND, MD
Daniel Friedland, MD, an internist and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at University of California San Francisco, is the primary author and editor of Evidence-Based Medicine: A Framework for Clinical Practice (Appleton & Lange 1998), one of the first textbooks to outline methods for clinicians to find, evaluate, and apply medical literature to the care of their patients.
Dr. Friedland is the president and CEO of Friedland Consulting, as well as the founder of SuperSmart Health (www.SuperSmartHealth.com), which provides teaching and consulting on evidence-based medicine (EBM) for physicians, allied healthcare professionals and consumers, as well as workshops and coaching to empower health and well-being.
Dr. Friedland received his medical degree and completed his medical training at UCSF where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Headed Cane Societies, and received UCSF’s HouseStaff Teaching Award, a teaching fellowship, and a grant from the American College of Physicians that enabled him to develop and present one of the first Faculty Development Programs on EBM in the United States.
Since 1998, Dr. Friedland has presented several hundred EBM programs in more than 40 states nationwide including programs for leading academic institutions, medical associations, hospitals, physicians’ groups, government, insurance companies and numerous companies in the health care industry. He continues to teach EBM to physicians and allied health professionals with diverse interests. Since EBM is focused on the process of making medical decisions, his expertise can be applied across all medical specialties.
